Necrotic ring spots
Symptoms and Time of Appearance
Microscopic fungi living in the ground cause the disease called necrotic ring spots. These rings can grow to over 30 cm in diameter. Mainly during summer, especially during periods of environmental stress.
Preventive measures
- Water frequently during hot, dry periods.
- Use organic fertilizer or synthetic fertilizer with slow-release nitrogen.
Control methods
Use a shovel to remove infested patches down to 30 cm in depth (be careful not to contaminate healthy grass with infested soil), replace the contaminated soil with high quality soil and reseed with high quality seed.
