Turf-forming grasses have beneficial effects (often overlooked) on the environment, as well as on the health of city dwellers. Grass contributes positively to the environment, human health (erosion control, oxygen producer, dust eliminator, air filter, noise reducer, ambient air cooling effect), recreation (safe groundcover, reduces risk of injury), and aesthetic appeal (increases a property’s market value, scientifically-proven positive impact on mental health).
Pesticide use in urban areas
Did you know that 81% of all pesticides used in Québec are applied in agricultural settings and that individuals buy 8 times more pesticides than green space maintenance companies?
We believe rational, restricted use of pesticides is preferable and we have the necessary expertise to do much better with far less...
Lawn treatments and your health
Like certain household products (bleach, cleaning products, algaecides, etc.) pesticides should be handled with care. The safety of these products depends largely on the manner in which they are used. It is important to follow the recommendations on pesticide labels in order to protect the safety of users and exposed individuals. As professionals, we are aware of this aspect and we are extremely cautious when applying these products. The products we use are approved by Health Canada.
Indeed, Canada is recognized as being one of the most stringent countries in terms of pesticide regulations. The pesticide control and approval process in Canada can take as long as ten years before the product finds its way to market.

The advantages of sound lawn cultivation techniques
As the saying goes “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!”
1) By limiting the frequency of lawn mowing during dry spells, you prevent a range of problems such as insect infestations.
2) The ideal mowing height is 6 to 9 cm. This length is conducive to deep root development and a more resistant lawn.
3) Sufficient watering on a regular basis is preferable to more frequent light waterings. The ideal period for watering, in terms of disease prevention, is between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
4) Aeration is an important practice for healthy lawns. It results in a stronger root system as well as better absorption of water and nutrients.
The role of fertilizers in maintaining your lawn
All plants need food, and lawns are no exception. Most of the fertilizers contain various different elements, such as phosphorous, nitrogen, and potassium. At Forevergreen Canada, our constant preoccupation with the environment inspired us to create efficient fertilizers without phosphorous in order to protect our water courses.
All of these elements work together to play an important role in keeping plants healthy. Fertilizers are available in natural, organic, mineral, and synthetic form.
